The Inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit (IRU) at Keck Medicine of USC is a comprehensive program that focuses on improving the independence of patients. Through this interdisciplinary team approach, we work with patients and their families or caregivers to improve a patient’s quality of life. Our goal is to help increase functions such as mobility, activities of daily living, cognition, communication, strength and overall independence.
As part of the oldest medical school in Southern California and one of only two academic medical centers in the Los Angeles area, this program is a leader in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Members of our team consist of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, rehabilitation nursing staff, social workers, case management personnel and physiologists.
